| Lawson Jones and his wife, Jennifer, and son, Garrett,
live at 1313 Surry Drive. Lawson says they chose Guilford Hills for the
location and schools, They fell in love with their house as it was
everything they were looking for. Lawson is especially proud of his yard
that he's worked so hard on this last year. Lawson and his business,
Yost and Little Realtors, were the proud sponsors of the 2007 Guilford
Hills Lights Up the Night for Murphy's Kids! |

Debbie
Matta of 2528 Fernwood Drive moved to Guilford Hills in 1967 because,
"she found the right house in the right area." She quickly fell in love
with the neighborhood and it's charm, friendly faces, and convenience.
Debbie loves her home and it shows! Extensive remodeling and landscaping
(much done with her own two hands) has created a home that has warmth
and welcome oozing from it as you drive by.

Jeff
Bennett of 2516 Fernwood Drive first moved to Guilford Hills as a child
on Fortune lane in 1964. After graduating college, he moved to Sunset
Hills Condominiums but Guilford Hills kept "calling" him home. Jeff
moved to Fernwood drive in 1998 and loves life here. His passions are
working in his yard, remodeling his home, and reconnecting with his
neighbors. Jeff is also a regular attendee of the GHUC monthly meetings
and events.

We
nominated this house because the yard is always so beautiful and neat!
My husbands parents live on Honeysuckle so we drive by this house all
the time. It is always so neat and manicured! Funny, the day we went
to talk to them and tell them we were nominating them we had actually
had rain and there were leaves in the yard. Dillard had gone out of
town fishing so he wasn't home to clean them up. Not to worry, I'm sure
as soon as he gets back there will not be a leaf in his yard that isn't
up in a tree. He loves to work in the yard. The McGee's have lived in
the neighborhood for almost 25 years. This yard makes our neighborhood
look good. Thanks to the McGee's for their beautiful yard!

While driving through the
neighborhood one afternoon, taking pictures of streets and houses for a
project I had in mind for the newsletter and the web, I ran across this
house on Fortune. I couldn’t help but stop and take a picture of this
yard as it is, to me, one of the prettiest in the neighborhood. I’ve
admired it for a long time, and felt that if I wanted to show to the
public just how pretty this neighborhood was, this yard would be my
“poster shot!”
I stopped by the house last week
to talk with the owner and was pleasantly surprised that her name was
Peggy, too! Peggy McDaniel has spent many years working on the yard, of
which she does herself!

Larry and Dianne Vance are our August Home of the Month. They have
lived in Guilford Hills for more than 30 years and raised two
daughters and a son in their home on Overbrook Drive. Dianne spends
many hours of every day working in her gardens. The Vance's have built
a beautiful garden for all to enjoy as neighbors stop to look while
walking their dogs or sit on their front porches and enjoy the view. |
